“That is a long story…” Gerald replied. “But first, I need to do something I haven’t been able to do in a long time. Something I should have done every day.” With that, Gerald leaned forward, pressing his lips against hers. It had been a year since Gerald last saw her, a year since their last kiss.
“I’m willing to listen. You know I always have.” Her grin grew wider after her statement was made. The grin slowly disappeared as he leaned forward and gave her a kiss. It had been so long and yet it felt just as nice as the first day it happened. She didn’t hesitate and leaned in, returning her own kiss. After a few moments, she broke it. A faint blush, hard to see against her sun kissed cheeks, appeared there. “It has been some time… Welcome home.” The thief threw her arms around the captain. Her embrace as tight, holding him close as if she might loose him. “I missed you.”
Gerald wrapped his arms around Mayu, trying to enjoy the feeling of embrace as much as possible. “I missed you too.” He said, holding her tight against him. He could feel her heartbeat. “Would it be too much to ask for some water? My canteen is empty, and I just had to walk through the desert to get here.”
